Jaguars/Eagles Recap: Nightmare at EverBank Field

It was ugly. I think almost everyone in Jacksonville would agree with that statement for the Jacksonville Jaguars play on Sunday afternoon. It was a game that was hyped, not necessarily for the Jaguars to rebound from a trouncing in San Diego, but Michael Vick and his return to prominice as a starting QB in the NFL. And how Vick showed out in the national media, crushing the Jaguars 28-3.

There is a lot you can say about this team; the quarterback is no good, the offensive line is garbage, we have no safeties, and the list continues. But this loss falls squarely on two problems, the lack of secondary help and the ineffectiveness of David Garrard. Vick tossed 3 touchdown passes, 2 to Deshaun Jackson and 1 to Jeremy Maclin. The Eagles were able to produce explosive plays downfield, in which the Jaguars secondary could not keep covered. The defensive line actually played a good game and were effective until the third quarter, when they fell apart. The offense just could not move the ball up the field through the air, gaining only 54 passing yard the ENTIRE game.

And the worst part is that #9 is to blame for that. He made extremely bad reads of coverage, he never audibles out of run plays when there is obviously 8-9 men stacking "the box", and he just made terrible throws. He's already on the hot seat with the fans, and I'm sure that seat just got warmer after that performance. Next week, the Indianapolis Colts come to town. If the Jags can't recover from this loss and come out swinging (and with a win) next week, theres no doubt that there will be major changes on this team in the next few weeks.
